PORTLAND, Ore. (October 3, 2009) - The Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) set Oregon on fire as the top 40 bull riders in the world invaded the Pacific Northwest on October 2-3. The Rose Garden Arena played host to the world’s best riders during the GoDaddy.com Invitational presented by Cooper Tires, stop no. 29 on the PBR’s elite Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) tour. In the end, Shane Proctor (Mooresville, N.C.) took home the coveted Portland event title after riding all three of his bulls for 261 points. Proctor, originally from Grand Coulee, Wash., collected a check for $33,335 in front of family and friends as well as the first BFTS event title in his career. He added valuable money and points to his 2009 BFTS qualifier and points standings with just a few weeks before the 2009 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas, Nev.

“This is the first BFTS I’ve ever won,” Proctor stated from the winner’s circle. “It’s a great confidence booster going into the Finals and gives me much needed points. This feels great – it’s been a long time coming and means the world to me this close to Finals.”

Proctor rode the bull, Juicy Vindication, owned by Don Kish Bucking Bulls, for 87.25 points and a third place finish in round one. He followed that up with an 86 point ride on Dakota Rodeo Bucking Bulls’ Rude Awakening in round two, giving him a total of 173.25. He entered the Built Ford Tough Championship Round in first place and picked the bull, Okie Dokie of Corey & Horst Rodeo Co. Inc, in the GoDaddy.com Championship Draft. Proctor tamed the animal athlete for 87.75 points, giving him a total of 261 points and locking up the coveted GoDaddy.com Invitational event title.

“In the short-go, I picked a Washington bull (Okie Dokie) because I’m a Washington cowboy,” Proctor continued. “It feels great to win one at the Rose Garden!”

Top Brazilian superstar Valdiron de Oliveira (Aparecida de Goiania, GO, Brazil) took second place after riding all three of his bulls for 260.25 points, adding a check for $15,516 to his bank account. Young gun Ryan McConnel (Colgate, Okla.) took third place in Portland, finishing with a total of 258.5 points and taking home $9,963. Fourth place went to Robson Palermo (Rio Branco, Acre, Brazil) who finished the weekend with 178 points and collected $10,373 while Billy Robinson (Galax, Va.) rounded out fifth place after totaling 170 points and added a much-needed check of $4,623 to his 2009 qualifier standings.

The race for PBR’s million dollar world title takes the top 40 bull riders in the world to The Buckeye State for the Cooper Tires Invitational, stop no. 30 on the prestigious BFTS tour. PBR will invade Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, on October 10-11, where the best bull riders and the toughest bulls in the country will compete in the second-to-last regular season stop of the 2009 season. The VERSUS network airs PBR events every Saturday and Sunday evening. Be sure to check www.pbrnow.com for upcoming cities, ticket information, and complete broadcast times.
