TULSA, Okla. (July 18, 2009) - The world’s best bull riders invaded the BOK Center for the second of three performances in Tulsa, Okla. The U.S. Border Patrol Invitational presented by Express and River Spirit Casino, stop #23 in the prestigious Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) tour, showcased the top 40 bull riders as they took on the toughest bulls the PBR had to offer in front of an enthusiastic Saturday night crowd. At the end of round two, Oregon young gun Cody Ford (Stanfield, Ore.) found himself atop the leader board after scoring 90 points on the bull, Booger Butt, owned by Jeff Robinson/Mike Tedesco/ Larry the Cable Guy/Bar None. Ford collected a check for $2,730.
Second place went to Zack Brown (Santa Fe, Texas) who took on Frontier/Teague/McBride & Wegman’s bull, California Dreaming, for 89.75 points. Brazilian superstar Robson Palermo (Rio Branco, Acre, Brazil) finished third after riding the bull, Grey Dog, owned by D&H Cattle Company, for 89.25 points while fellow Brazilian Renato Nunes (Buritama, SP, Brazil) took fourth place with an 88.5 points on Boyd/Floyd Bull Company’s Western Star. Rounding out fifth place was Nebraska’s Dustin Elliott (North Platte, Neb.) who rode Little Bo, owned by 4C’s/Sills/Barker, for 88.25 points.
Due to his round win at the U.S. Border Patrol Invitational, Team Enterprise rider and world no. 1 Kody Lostroh (Longmont, Colo.) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus during round two. Because Lostroh did not make the eight second whistle after taking on the bull, Chance; therefore, stock contractor, Teague Bucking Bulls, LLC, took home the $5,000 bonus.
The U.S. Border Patrol Invitational presented by Express and River Spirit Casino concludes tomorrow as the world’s best bull riders compete in round three and the Built Ford Tough Championship Round to decide who will take home the coveted event title. Tune-in to VERSUS on Saturday, August 1 at 6 p.m. EST for all of the non-stop action!
