Nunes Posts Come-From-Behind Win In Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. (July 18, 2010) - The only rider to ride two bulls on Sunday, top-ranked Renato Nunes (Buritama, Sao Paulo, Brazil) came from behind to win the Professional Bull Riders elite Built Ford Tough Series Express Classic presented by Cooper Tires and brought to you locally by Troy-Bilt and Blue-Emu at the BOK Center.

He rode MoeBandy.com (D&H Cattle Company/Moe Bandy) for 83 points in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round and Flirting with Disaster for 90 points in Round 3. It is the third win of the season and second in a row for Nunes, who also posted victories at Pueblo, Colo. and Fresno, Calif. Nunes, who was tied for seventh heading into the final day, finished with 259.75 points and earns $36,446 to bring his season total to $259,589.

Silvano Alves (Pilar do Sul, Sao Paulo, Brazil) finished second with 258.75 points and won $17,249 while Valdiron de Oliveira (Aparecida de Goiania, Goiás, Brazil) was third and won $10,850 with 252.75 points.

Zack Brown (North Shore, Hawaii), who finished first in Rounds 1 and 2, finished fourth with 178.25 points to earn $15,130 and 2009 PBR Rookie of the Year Cody Nance (Paris, Tenn.) was fifth with 176.75 points. Nance scored 90 points on Lil’ Red Kat (Boyd/Floyd/Larue) in Round 3 to share top honors with Nunes.

Nunes is first in the BFTS standings with 8,707.25 points followed by Austin Meier (Kinta, Okla.) with 7,121.75 points and Travis Briscoe (Edgewood, N.M.) with 6,394 points. de Oliveira is fourth with 6,266.75 and Guilherme Marchi (Leme, Sao Paulo, Brazil) is fifth with 6,140.5 points. Briscoe rode on Friday in Tulsa, but did not compete on Saturday and Sunday, while Marchi is still recovering from wrist surgery and did not compete this weekend.

The BFTS will travel to San Antonio, Texas for the United States Air Force Invitational at the AT&T Center on July 31-Aug. 1. Tickets begin at only $10 and can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com or by telephone at (800) 745-3000.
