
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (September 18, 2010) - In front of a sellout crowd of 8,100 at JQH Arena on Saturday, J.B. Mauney of Mooresville, N.C., rode Minor Incident (Boyd/Floyd/Cunningham) for 88.5 points to take the lead at the elite Built Ford Tough Series PFIwestern.com Invitational presented by Bass Pro Shops.
Mauney has 174.5 points and a one-point lead over two-time PBR World Champion Chris Shivers of Jonesville, La., who finished second in Round 2 with 87.75 points on Iron Horse (Circle T Ranch & Rodeo). Jason O’Hearn of Stephenville, Texas, is in third with 170 points, following an 86.75-point ride on Ready Freddy (Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls), and Caleb Sanderson of Kissimmee, Fla., is fourth with 169.75 points, after scoring 84.75 points on Cowboy Contractor (Johnny Monger).
Valdiron de Oliveira of Aparecida de Goiania, Brazil, finished first in the Final Five Showdown with 88.5 points on Big Iron (4L & Diamond S Rodeo Company) to pick up 288.5 points in the BFTS season standings. Mauney finished second in the bonus round, earning 267.75 points, while top-ranked Austin Meier of Kinta, Okla., took third, picking up 246.5 points. Mauney scored 87.75 points on Chester (Mendell/Jaeger) and Meier had 86.5 points on Insaniac (4L & Diamond S Rodeo Company). Mauney rode Chester once, but was given an option for a re-ride after the flank rope came free.
