Mauney gets second win in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (September 21, 2010) - Scoring an event high 89.5 points on Hee Bee Gee Bee (Boyd/Floyd Bull Company), J.B. Mauney of Mooresville, N.C., finished with 264 points and earned $39,960 by winning the elite Built Ford Tough Series PFIwestern.com Invitational presented by Bass Pro Shops in front of 7,357 fans at JQH Arena on Sunday.

Mauney won two out of four rounds, and also collected 267.75 points in the Final Five Showdown bonus round to move within 310.5 points of world leader Austin Meier of Kinta, Okla., in the BFTS standings.

Ryan McConnel of Coalgate, Okla,. finished second with 261 points after winning the Built Ford Tough Championship Round with 89.25 points on Unabomber (Robinson/Eno/Kubinchak). 2004 PBR World Champion Mike Lee of Decatur, Texas, was third with 260 points, followed by two-time PBR World Champion Chris Shivers of Jonesville, La., with 258.5 points, and Colby Yates of Fort Worth, Texas, with 258.5 points.

The 2010 PBR season has been the sport’s most competitive season ever. The first 27 events of the 2010 BFTS have produced 19 different winners; the standings lead has changed 11 times; and six different riders have been ranked first. In addition, there are seven riders in the Top 10 with an event win and 13 in the Top 20.

Meier has the most wins with five, while Renato Nunes of Buritama, Brazil, has three, and Valdiron de Oliveira of Aparecida de Goiania, Brazil, rookie Silvano Alves of Pilar, Brazil, and Mauney each have two wins. Meier and Mauney have each been ranked first three different times while Nunes has been on top twice.

The BFTS standings, as of September 20, now fully reflect the scores from the first two rounds of the Final Five Showdown

The BFTS will be in Virginia for the Charlottesville Invitational brought to you locally by Troy-Bilt at 8 p.m. on Friday and at 7:50 p.m. on Saturday at John Paul Jones Arena. Tickets begin at $10 and can be purchased by telephone at (888) 575-8497.

BEHIND THE CHUTES:

Ford Truck Moment of Truth Bonus: Mauney claimed the $5,000 Ford Truck Moment of Truth Bonus by being the winner after leading heading into the Built Ford Tough Championship Round. The bonus is increased by $5,000 each week it is not claimed. Once claimed, it returns to $5,000.

Injury Report: Jared Farley (groin) and Beau Hill (wrist) are out for Charlottesville, Va. Travis Briscoe (concussion), Ben Jones (shoulder), J.B. Mauney (concussion), and Shane Proctor (knee) are probable for Charlottesville, Va.
