GREELEY, Colo. (July 22, 2010) - Colorado cowboy Josh Koschel underwent successful surgery Wednesday to repair his injured left shoulder.
According to Koschel, the surgeon repaired his sub-scapula and reattached his biceps tendon. The surgery effectively brings an end to Koschel’s 2010 season.
Koschel, who is currently ranked 13th in the world, was enjoying a career year before suffering the injury this summer at a Touring Pro event in North Dakota. A two-time PBR Finals qualifier, Koschel has covered 45.8 percent of his bulls at Built Ford Tough Series events this year, which is a substantial increase from his career average of 36.8 percent.
The 25-year-old said recovery and rehabilitation is likely to take four months, “maybe a little less depending how fast I gain strength once I can start using [my shoulder].”
In spite of the setback, which Koschel called disappointing, he remains upbeat and positive about what he was able to accomplish in the first part of the season, and is looking forward to returning to competition in 2011.
