FRESNO, Calif. (March 18, 2010) - “I think this is the best pen we’ve seen at a California event,” said PBR Livestock Director Cody Lambert Thursday, “because it’s been a long time since we’ve had [stock contractors] Jeff Robinson, H.D. Page and Don Kish all at the same event, and then there are a few other good bulls there.”
This week’s Built Ford Tough Series event will take place Friday and Saturday in Fresno, Calif., at the Save Mart Center on the campus of Fresno State.
Lambert mentioned Braveheart and Pick a Spot (owned by Judd Leffew), along with Hawaiian Ivory (Cindy Rosser and Flying U) as three bulls fans should keep an eye on this weekend. He records “In the Bull Pen” every Thursday morning during the week of a BFTS event.
Also mentioned in Lambert’s weekly Podcast was a bull named Bring It. He was the top bull at the NFR last year, but Lambert said he hasn’t done quite as well on the Built Ford Tough Series, though he has been to the PBR Finals.
Charlie Bullware, who was selected last week in the short go by reigning World Champion Kody Lostroh, will be back in the draw. His longtime travel mate Troubadour is still out with a back injury.
“He’s been out for a while with it,” Lambert said, “and he’s still going to be out for a while longer. The way Julio [Moreno] explained it to me, it’s a cracked vertebra, and the way he explained it to me the vertebra was fractured by one of those bull chiropractors that whack the bulls on the back with a rubber mallet.
“That’s what he told me.”

This week, Lambert also talked about the PBR’s recent nomination for Professional Sports League of the Year. The PBR is nominated for the honor alongside the NFL, MLB and NBA.
“When I first heard the news, I thought that’s mighty good company,” Lambert said. “When you think of the major American sports, you think of football, baseball, and basketball, and for the PBR to be included as a nominee…that’s giving the PBR a lot of respect.”
