Lima, Willingham split Greenville

Meier moves into first in world

Brazilian Paulo Lima and veteran Sean Willingham split the win at the Greenville Invitational brought to you locally by Pike Energy Solutions. Both riders went 3-for-3 on the weekend, finishing with 262.75 points. Lima rode Spartacus (Box K Cattle) in Round 2 for 84 points, and finished the weekend riding Chicken on a Chain (Robinson/Tedesco/Larry the Cable Guy) for 91.25 points in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round. Willingham stayed on Raisin' Cane (Circle T Ranch Rodeo) for 85.5 points in Round 2, followed by an 89.25 point ride on Buffalo Hump (Jeff Robinson Bucking Blulls) in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round. Including bonuses, Willingham took home a total of $36,577, while Lima walked away with $21,603.

Kinta, Okla., rider Austin Meier reclaimed the top spot in the world standings after staying on all three of his bulls in Greenville. In Round 2, Meier rode RMEF Elk Champ (Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls) for 85.25 points. He then tied for third in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round with an 89.5-point ride on Bad Moon (Circle T Ranch & Rodeo). He now has 9,640.5 BFTS points, which puts him 333.5 points ahead of Renato Nunes in the world standings.

Rounding out the top five at the Greenville Invitational were Robson Palermo and J.B. Mauney. Palermo rode Souped Up (D&H Cattle Company) in Round 2 for 84 points, and stayed on Commotion (D&H Cattle Company/Tom Luthy) for 88.25 points in Round 3. Mauney won Round 2 after staying on Monty the Bull (D&H Cattle Company/Matt & Christie Teutenberg) for 89 points. He also won the Built Ford Tough Championship Round with the high-point ride of the weekend – 93.5 points on Voodoo Child (Robinson/Tedesco/Larry the Cable Guy). Mauney is the third person to ever rider Voodoo Child, along with Justin McBride and L.J. Jenkins.

Season To Date

The first 26 events of the 2010 BFTS season have produced 19 different winners, and there are 11 riders in the Top 20 with an event win. Meier has the most wins with five, while Nunes has three, and Valdiron de Oliveira and rookie Silvano Alves each have two wins. The world-standings lead has changed nine times, and six different riders have been ranked first. Mauney has been first three different times, while Meier is currently in the lead for the third time. Nunes has been on top twice.

Ford Truck Moment of Truth Bonus
The $15,000 Ford Truck Moment of Truth Bonus was claimed by Sean Willingham, since he was in the lead going into the Built Ford Tough Championship Round. The Ford Truck Moment of Truth Bonus will return to $5,000 at Springfield, Mo. The bonus is increased by $5,000 each week it is not claimed. Once claimed, it returns to $5,000.

Final Five Showdown Bonus
J.B. Mauney received $4,000 for winning the first round of the Final Five Showdown in Greenville. McKennon Wimberly received $3,000 for second in the bonus round, while Guilherme Marchi received $2,000, and Mike Lee received $1,000. The next round in the Final Five Showdown will take place in Springfield, Mo.

Injury Report
Ben Jones suffered a concussion and separated his shoulder after being thrown into the chutes in Round 2. He is doubtful for next weekend in Springfield, Mo.
