Former World Champ takes Round 1 in Des Moines!

Des Moines, Iowa (May 1, 2010) - The Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) started off the weekend strong in Des Moines, as former World Champion Mike Lee (Decatur, Texas) walked away with the Round 1 win. Lee made the buzzer on Bootlegger (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve) for a score of 88.75 points and $2,730.

Coming in a close second was another Texas cowboy, Stormy Wing (Dalhart, Texas). Wing rode Circle T Ranch & Rodeo’s bull, Outa Da Blue, for 88.25 points and $1,950. Third place went to Brazilian Guilherme Marchi (Leme, SP, Brazil), who stayed on Space Chimp (Circle T Ranch & Rodeo) for a score of 87.75 points and $1,170.

Sterling Yancy (Bulverde, Texas), one of the regional Touring Pro Division riders given the opportunity to ride at the Built Ford Tough Series event, impressed the crowd when he rode Predator (Bailey Rodeo Company) for 87.00 points, putting him in fourth place for the round. Fifth place went to current World leader, Renato Nunes (Buritama, SP, Brazil). Nunes received 86.75 points for his ride on Blue Duck from Shad Smith.

INJURY REPORT:
Colby Yates suffered a concussion and is probable for tomorrow night’s Round 2. He will be re-evaluated in the morning.

Stormy Wing sprained his right knee. He is probable to ride tomorrow.
