The San Juan Bautista resident, 13, has been riding horses since she was age 6 and competing in rodeos since she was 7.
From the horse's back[May 2, 2007] REACH 4A Star riding academy is a program of I-REACH 2 that uses horses as therapy for people with physical, mental, emotional and social disabilities. Riders have a variety of conditions. The most common include developmental delays, cerebral palsy, downs syndrome, visual impairment, autism, attention deficit disorder, depression, substance abuse, eating disorders and behavioral issues.

Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro euthanized following complications[Jan. 29, 2007] Breaking News for Horse Lovers - Kentucky Derby champion Barbaro was euthanized Monday, ending a struggle for survival after he injured his right hind leg in the Preakness Stakes last May.
"We just reached a point where it was going to be difficult for him to go on without pain," co-owner Roy Jackson said. "It was the right decision, it was the right thing to do. We said all along if there was a situation where it would become more difficult for him, then it would be time."
