Mounted shooting is the fastest growing equestrian sport in the world. “Shoot for a Cure” participants ride horse back through a ribbon-shaped course (paying homage to the breast cancer awareness logo) firing single action ‘45s loaded with black powder blank ammo at pink balloons. The rider with the fastest time receives a custom belt buckle from Montana Silversmiths and a S.A. Colt 45.

This special event kicks off the CMSA Eastern Championships being held daily in Miller Coliseum. The finale takes place Saturday, September 5 at 7 pm.

Host Annie Bianco Ellett is perhaps the most recognized person in all of cowboy mounted shooting and has helped revolutionize the sport. She is the first and only woman in mounted shooting to win a world title overall. Annie travels the country competing and offering shooting seminars. Annie’s shooting and riding skills have been featured on ESPN, Outdoor Life Network, TNN and Fox Sports Television, and she is the official shooting instructor in CMT’s hit reality show “Cowboy U.”

Annie is currently the National Spokesperson for CMSA and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2007. Her world and national champion AQHA foundation stallion, El Costa Prom is highly sought for breeding across the country and is the winningest horse in the sport of mounted shooting.

“Shoot for a Cure” is sponsored by Wrangler, Flying W Ranch, Carl Black Chevrolet, American Cowboy, Western Horseman, Charlie 1 Horse, Western Shooting Horse, Cimarron F.A.
