By Anthony Watt, awatt@qconline.com

Several police agencies continue their investigation into the theft of Sizzle, a red roan mare stolen from Black Hawk College East, Kewanee.

The mare was stolen late the evening of March 10 from her stall in the Ag Pavilion at the campus five miles south of Kewanee. The theft wasn't immediately noticed since college workers assumed the student who owned Sizzle had taken her home during spring break.

BHC Public Safety Chief Rick Fiems said video cameras recorded the theft, apparently the work of three people. Illinois State Police Crime Lab technicians are working to enhance the images.

Sizzle has a reddish brown head and body with a black mane and tail. She also has a distinctive “Z” branded on her left rear flank.

Chief Fiems said various leads are being followed. He asked that anyone with information on the stolen horse contact him at 309-738-5780.

Anyone with information can also contact Henry County Crime Stoppers at (800) 227-2324 or 309-937-2324.
