Theresa "Dakota" Lonadier was the true definition of a rodeo fan. Her physical condition restricted her life but she was always on the Internet checking on her favorite people in the rodeo industry. On Friday, June 8th, Dakota passed away from complications from open heart surgery. On Tuesday before her surgery rodeo stock contractor, Roy Carter, took time to stop in and see her. Roy was one of her special friends. She had told him about her dream to someday be a stock contractor in the PBR. Tom Lonadier, Dakota's dad said she was so happy that Roy had taken the time to visit her and that he knew her last moments were happy because she knew the sport she loved so much cared about her as well.
Dakota touched many lifes in rodeo in her own special way. She made a diffference. Roy Carter brought a new bull to the PBR in Dallas on June 23rd. The bull is named Dakota's Dream. In his first time out Dakota's Dream bucked off Ned Cross and received a bull score of 40.25. Audiences watching the PBR on VERSUS heard announcer Justin McKee tell Dakota's story. She may never have been a stock contractor but thanks to Roy Carter she will have her bull in the PBR!
