A Brand New Competition Venue for the Bucking Bull Industry
PUEBLO, Colo. - American Bucking Bull, Inc. (ABBI) is officially underway with its latest endeavor – a joint venture with Video Bucking Bulls, Inc. (VBBI). The online competition is a welcomed avenue to breeders all over the country and internationally who face the challenges of travel expenses and are looking to showcase their young bulls.
The weekly events will continue throughout 2009 with the top animals from each video futurity moving on to qualifying for the 2009 ABBI World Futurity Finals in Las Vegas held in conjunction with the 2009 PBR World Finals.
Each VBBI event is open to 2 year old ABBI registered bucking stock, wherein breeders video tape their up-and-coming athlete during the video submission period, upload the performance and standby while official judges, along with video judges, determine the winners. The bull’s score is based on the standard elements of buck, kick, spin, intensity and degree of difficulty but the VBBI rule books get considerably unique from there to solidify the legitimacy of these online competitions. For example, a whiteboard must be visible at some point in the video that includes the unique competition code for the event, the names of the flankman and owner, the bull's ABBI number, brand, name, and the location of the buck-out. The video must also show that ABBI livestock handling guidelines are being met as indicated in the sample video on the site’s homepage where a fallen flank strap has a hand run down the length of the rope as an acknowledgement of the VBBI’s stringent procedures of no foreign objects, to protect the animals.
You can become a video judge and try your hand and scoring these animals. Log onto www.americanbuckingbull.com and sign up to be a video judge, with prizes awarded to the best video judge. Judging will occur on the vbbinow.com website, once you have signed up.
In conjunction with regularly scheduled events, the new cyber-arena will host a late season heifer-exclusive “Girls Night OUT” where the bovine ladies will get the chance to show the boys what they’re made of, via a 15 lb dummy. This extracurricular element will kick off September 15th and play out over the following five weeks.
The VBBI concept is set to be an invaluable commodity to the breeding industry with the potential to take the world of bucking bulls to the next level as opportunity meets accessibility. Official rules and additional information are available on the VBBI website, www.vbbinow.com and entries for the events are taken online at www.americanbuckingbull.com.
