Lyman, SC, August 11, 2007–Fyffe, AL. The Fyffe, AL PBBA event was a first in more ways than one. I was the first one-day PBBA open bull competition, the first bring your own rider event and the first Ricky West Invitational. The West Arena was perfect, the weather was great and the PBBA competition bulls were awesome, once again. Even though the contractors brought their own riders only two out of the twenty bulls entered were covered for the full eight seconds.

Wally Barnette’s bull #133 Melt Down took home another first place win. Melt Down is proving himself to be one tough competition bull and earning enough money to pay for his own feed. He earned Wally a check for $2,300, a custom made set of trophy spurs and a free 100 straw collection compliments of Genex Alabama. For information about Genex Alabama visit http://genex.crinet.com/page266/GENEXALABAMA.

Ricky West’s Bull #47 Patsy’s Pet & Jeff Robinson’s bull #9 tied for second and third place winning their owners a combine $2,450. Fourth place went to #0 Firecracker from Vashon Guthrie’s pen. His PBBA debut earned him $790. Fourth & fifth place were split by Danny Cererzo’s bull F13 Shades of Pale and Coley Treadway’s bull #231 Southern Gangster. Their combined winnings were $660.

The PBBA sanctions open bucking bull competitions for bulls of all ages regardless of pedigree. Since its very first event in April of 2007 it has sanctioned six events and paid out over $36,500 in its first four months. There are several events still scheduled for 2007 plus a PBBA Finals in January of 2008.
