LINCOLN - In an ongoing effort to help protect the health of Nebraska's livestock, the Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) has issued an Import Order for rodeo cattle entering Nebraska.

The Order requires tuberculosis (TB) testing be conducted on all cattle being imported into Nebraska for rodeos, timed events, or team events.

The rodeo cattle must be individually identified and have an entry permit issued by the Nebraska Department of Agriculture. Also, if the animals are six months of age or older, they must have been tested negative for cattle tuberculosis within the previous six months. The entry permit number and the cattle TB testing information must be recorded on the certificate of veterinary inspection.

The Import Order is in addition to the current Nebraska Animal Importation Act. Individuals who are planning to import cattle into the state should contact the NDA, Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), at 800-572-2437 for more information.
