The fever tick, less than a 1/8-inch long, is capable of carrying and transmitting ‘babesia,’ a blood parasite deadly to cattle. PBR star Rotten Cotton takes final lap in front of hometown crowd[Sep. 24, 2007] One of the greatest animal athletes in the sport of rodeo got a hero's welcome Saturday night when he returned to his hometown.
Rotten Cotton, a bull that was born in the spring of 1998 on the Tom Williard ranch near Burden, will soon retire from the sport. In observance of his retirement, the bull circled the arena at the 10th annual Burden Bull Riding, earning a standing ovation.
Texas Animal Health Officials Tackle Tuberculosis Entry and ID Requirements[Sep. 24, 2007] Texas livestock health officials, striving to protect Texas’ hard-earned cattle tuberculosis (TB)-free status, have adopted new cattle entry, testing and movement regulations that go into effect Saturday, October 13. The 13 commissioners for the Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) have tightened regulations, due to concerns about the recent findings of cattle TB infection in two New Mexico dairies, a Colorado bucking bull herd, and an Oklahoma beef herd. Additionally, over the past two years, at least five infected cattle herds and infection in free-ranging deer havebeen identified in Minnesota. For several years, Michigan also has waged war against TB in both cattle and free-ranging deer.
PBR Hosts the largest Bucking Bull Sale in 2007[Sep. 24, 2007] On October 29th in Las Vegas, Nevada the Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR), in conjunction with the PBR's 2007 Built Ford Tough World Finals presented by Wrangler, hosts the PBR Premiere Bucking Bull Sale at the South Point Events Center. At 5:00 p.m. consigners and buyers will have their last opportunity of the year to purchase bulls from the largest selection of world class bucking bull stock.
