While I was spinning off another 100 mile ride yesterday guess who’s bull won the 2 year old ABBI Classic event in Lake Charles, La. ?

TWO PAIR BUCKING BULLS – BAD MAMA JAMA

After riding into Stony Plain yesterday afternoon and getting to sleep at home in my own bed it made for a very easy 45 km ride today. Daniel drove us out to Stony Plain where we met up with the other riders coming in from spending the night at Seba Beach. We stopped for coffee at the Tim Horton’s in Spruce Grove and had a number of other riders and family of riders join us for the ride into Edmonton. We rode into the city as one large group two abreast to the New Asian Village on the cities west end. Here we were again treated to a great meal of authentic Indian cuisine by the restaurant owner (Sammy Karsid). Again we had a number of additional riders join up with us. A couple of the riders from our group who could not complete the ride because of work or other commitments rejoined us, along with about 12 members of the Cops for Cancer Triathlon Team, the first Canadian to wear the yellow jersey, Alex Steida. When we left the restaurant at 12:30 we were given a full Edmonton City Police escort all the way from the cities west side to the Alberta Legislature Buildings in the heart of the city. Here we were greeted by families, friends, four of the children with cancer that we rode for, well-wishers and the media. It was a great way to end our 8 day Le Tour of Hope.

We were blessed with excellent cycling weather all eight days. Our journey took us over 1,000 km through some of the most beautiful country side in the world, topped off with all kinds of wildlife. All that said the best part of the tour besides the great cause we were all riding for was having Laurie, Erin, Jill and three of the grandchildren along plus the fabulous people I was so lucky to meet. As a group it is not surprising to find these people are the type of individuals who thrive on this sort of challenge while supporting a great cause. Everyone had such positive attitudes towards life and all were very interesting people with very interesting and unique life experiences. When things were not running smoothly, as can happen from time to time in these events there were absolutely no complaints just compliments and thank-yous.

In closing I once again would like to thank each of you for so kindly supporting me in this adventure and to let you know your donations are going to a truly great cause.
