Day 2 is in the books, thank God! Started the morning by leaving Longview full of @#$* and vinegar at 8:00 am, limped in to Morley at 3:35. Again it was a cool Alberta foothills morning, around 7 celsuis (45F) but it was spectacular as we head west from Longview to take on the High Wood Pass. It is the highest paved pass in Canada at 2206 meters (7400ft about), that was what they told us anyway, maybe some one can google it and see if I am being bullshitted.

For any of you who have traveled this route you know how beautiful it is and for those of you who have not I would strongly recommend you make the trip, not on a bike though. The traffic was very light and lots of wildlife and scenery to see. Rode past the world famous Calgary Stampede Ranch but didn’t pull over to see if they had any good bulls, I think we will just keep buying the expensive ones in Texas.

First group of keeners were in at around 2:30, so they covered the 162 km in 5hrs and 50 minutes riding time. It is 6:30 here now and the last rider just made it in.

Tomorrow we go from Morley to Lake Louise which is a short 100 km again all up hill(looking forward to that!). Weather looks like it should be good again tomorrow, maybe a few showers. The big thing will be the wind and as we all know golfers and bike riders hate the wind unless it is behind you which seems to never happen.

Bruce and Brenda (sister and brother-in-law were here to support me at the end of my ride today so the Fortier cheering sections is growing. Its great when I ride in at the stops and my two grand-daughters run out to meet like I just won the Tour d’France.

Off to supper and ready now for a well deserved good nights sleep!!!

Gary
