Bucking Bulls and Bull Riders Join Forces At Joint Finals

Lyman, SC, January 21, 2009 - On January 16th and 17th the top 33 bulls from the 2008 Professional Bucking Bull Association (PBBA) season came from OH, FL, GA, NC & SC to T. Ed Garrison Livestock Arena, Clemson, SC for the 2008 PBBA Finals. The PBBA bulls were matched up against the top bull riders from the National Bull Riders Series for the 2008 NBR Series Finals.

After two nights of exciting edge of your seat competition the PBBA Finals Champion #514 Jap scored a total of 178.25 points and earned his owner Joey Nixon a Bob Berg PBBA Finals Champion buckle plus a Finals Champion check.

The Reserve Champion Bob Berg Buckle went to Boyce Knox and his bull 73/4 with a score of 178. #85 Radical owned by Jerome Davis, Hiatt & Ellis scored 177.25 points and a third place Bob Berg Buckle.

Four bulls scored 177 points each creating a four-way tie for fourth through seventh place. The winners were: #458 Ring of Fire, Clay Ellison & Will John Simpson; #D10 Ruby Red, Dell and Donna Elrod; #538 Bunker Buster and #540 Brimstone; both owned by Gary Blythe.

Professional Bucking Bull Association 2008 High Point Bulls Crowned

The PBBA wrapped up another successful season at the finals. During the 2008 PBBA season 162 bulls owned by 80 different stock contractors competed in seven different states from Ohio to Georgia for over $144,000 in season winnings. Clay Ellison’s bull #312 Big Show was the 2008 High Point Bull. Ellison received a Bob Berg Buckle, a semen tank sponsored by Gen Ex Alabama and a supply of Two Bulls Performance Supplement compliments of Two Bulls.

The Reserve High Point bull was #D10 Ruby Red owned by Dell and Donna Elrod. Mike Porter’s bull #13 Homer was the number three ranked bull of the year. The number four bull of the year was #104 Slip Knot owned by Sean Thorsell and Ernie Treadway. The number five bull of the year was #644 Code Blue from WW Bucking Bulls. They all received custom Bob Berg Buckles.

The 2008 PBBA Producer of the Year buckle went to Jason Roberts. The Buckle for Contractor of the Year went to Clay Ellison. Pat Cooper of Rafter C Bucking Bulls accepted the buckle for the 2008 PBBA Contractor of the Finals.

The PBBA sanctions open competitions for bulls of any age and pedigree. The 2009 schedule will be posted on the PBBA web site and published in a number of publications.

Results 2008 NBR Series Finals

National Bull Riders Series

The top bull riders from the 2008 season convened in Clemson to compete for the 2008 title, saddle and buckles. The riders found the match-up against the top bulls of the PBBA proved to be exciting and rewarding.

Jeremy James was crowned the NBR Series Year-End Champion. Jeremy was awarded a custom Bob Berg Buckle and a custom made Hennessy saddle. Pete Copp prevailed as the 2008 Finals Champion and was also awarded a custom Bob Berg buckle.

The NBR Series was created by the PBBA for bull riders that enter PBBA sanctioned bucking bull competitions. The 2009 NBR Series Finals will match the top bull riders from several associations including the NABA, SSBR, SEBRA, and IBR against the top bulls of the PBBA. Any approved reputable association or weekly series is eligible to participate.
