Pit bull dogs rescued in raid face uncertain future[Jul. 14, 2009] It was the most comprehensive dog fighting bust in U.S. history as law enforcement agencies from eight different states joined forces to raid multiple dog fighting operations on July 8, 2009. Rodeo Horse Stolen & Abused[Jul. 10, 2009] It's one of the most despicable crimes a person could do to an animal: abuse it. Someone stole a top notch professional rodeo horse in Ft. Pierre last weekend and did just that. Now its owner wants those responsible brought to justice.
A lifelong equestrian love affair[Jul. 10, 2009] The Arabian horse was brought into the bidding arena with a barbed wire halter around its head. As always, 7-year-old Margaret Meehan had accompanied her mother, a certified trainer and buyer of horses, and teacher of children, to the horse auction in Saudi Arabia, where the family lived.

Horse slaughter humane option for abandoned animals, bureau says[Jan. 27, 2009] How many times have we heard the phrase "unintended consequences" in reference to government actions? Some actions have great intentions but result in a major calamity.
Let's look at the issue of horse slaughter. There are no horse slaughter facilities operating in this country due to government actions. Congressional efforts are afoot to turn this into an outright and permanent ban. My family owns and loves horses - we have for generations.
Hadeed sad over abandoned horses[Jan. 17, 2009] JOE HADEED, former trainer, now breeder/owner and chairman of the Trinidad and Tobago Racing Authority (TTRA), was saddened by the news clip on television channel CNC3 on Tuesday night, which highlighted the plight of racehorse, Sunny. The animal was abandoned and had to be rescued by animal lovers.
