Right now, we are trying to drum up vet support. We really need vets who are willing to speak up on behalf of the non-DVM dental practitioners as well as for the rights of horse owners. Rep Brian Renegar, DVM, will be conducting his study entitled "The Illegal Practice of Equine Dentistry in Oklahoma" on November 5th at 9am at the State Capitol. Dr. Mark Bianchi as well as Dr. David McCarroll will be speaking out AGAINST the teeth floaters right to work. Also against the teeth floaters is Dr. Joe Carter...but I don't know if whether or not he will be speaking at the study/studies. Ironically, Dr. McCarroll has one of his long time grounds keepers floating teeth regularly in his clinic and Dr. Carter utilized the services of my husband in his clinic last year...as well as for his own racehorses. We can all see the big picture here...as it has nothing to do with teeth floating and everything to do with power, greed and control.

We really need to find some Oklahoma vets who are willing to speak out for the horse owners right of choice and for the floaters right to work. My husband and I have gotten our cat vet to write a letter of support. She is a barrel racer and also our neighbor and friend. She uses Dustin for her teeth floating services. So far, that's the only one we have. I've found that veterinarians in Oklahoma have formed a "brotherhood" of sorts and they don't want to speak out against their brethren. The other vets that Dustin works for (and there are many) send us A LOT of work but feel like they can't speak out due to fear of repercussions by the OKLA Vet Board.

Dr Renegar also asked Dustin and two other dentists to testify at his study, but legal counsel has advised them not to do so, as so not to incriminate themselves.

The IAED (International Assoc. of Equine Dent.) is sending a veterinarian to testify at the interim studies on our behalf and we also have a vet from MO coming. But it would look better if we had some Oklahoma vets speaking out on our behalf as well. So if you know any please contact them and let them know...and have them contact us. I also suggested to our nearly 500 supporters and clients that if their vet is NOT willing to stand up for the rights of horse owners and teeth floaters, then perhaps its time to find a new vet!

Most importantly though is that we literally FLOOD the State Capitol with horse owners on November 5th at 9am. After the formal hearing, there will be an open forum for anyone who wishes to speak. This is so important! We need lots of bodies there in order to send a strong message that we as horse owners want to reserve our right to choose who provides certain services such as horseshoeing, massage and dentistry for our horses. Please feel free to forward this to as many people as you can.

Our interim study, pertaining to Oklahoma's archaic veterinary practice act, will be held the following week, but we do not have an exact date at this point. This study will be where the floaters can speak. However, we need LOTS of support at BOTH studies! Please forward this!
