CALGARY, ALTA. – Jesse Torkelson knew he had a great bull when he looked at the draw for the Kamloops Pro Rodeo and saw his name next to Little White Lie’s.

“I’d seen him out a couple times this year, and guys had a lot of trouble staying on him,” the Winfield, Alta. cowboy said of the Franklin Rodeo bull. “I knew that if I could stay on, it’d be a good one.”

In truth, it was a great ride, and worth first place in the bull riding at the two-day rodeo in Kamloops, B.C.

Little White Lie has bested every cowboy to come at him this season, but Torkelson rode the spinner to a 90.5 during the second performance on Aug, 29, adding $1,543 to his season’s earnings.

His score also tied for the seasons best in the bull riding. Torkelson’s travel partner Beau Hill picked up a 90.5 in William’s Lake, B.C. on C+ Rodeo’s Scar Tissue in June, and Torkelson couldn’t be happier to share the honour.

“It’s always nice when your friends do well. It keeps things exciting and everything positive.”

Other weekend winners from Lethbridge Whoop Up Days Pro Rodeo include:
Saddle Bronc: Ben Morrow, Turner Valley, AB, 83.5, $1,412 on Franklin's Scotch With a Twist; Bareback: Dusty LaValley, Crooked Creek, AB, 88.0, $1,216 on Franklin's Horse With No Name; Bull Riding: Jesse Torkelson, Winfield, AB, 90.5, $1,543 on Franklin's Little White Lie; Tie-Down Roping: Marty Becker, Edmonton, AB, 6.9, $1,470; Steer Wrestling: Clint Robinson, Spanish Fork, UT, 3.8, $1,794; Ladies Barrel Racing: Rana Walter, Lethbridge, AB 16.37 $1,416; Team Roping: Travis Gallais, Olds, AB & Rocky Dallyn, Nanton, AB, 5.6, $2,298
