Collinsville Rodeo Grounds was the venue for stop number 14 on the PBR Australia Touring Pro Tour. This was Collinsville’s second year hosting an elite bull riding event and organizers were pleased with crowd numbers and involvement, doubling their attendance from the 2005 event.

The afternoon was a scorcher but as darkness fell on the arena conditions improved. In the first section the crowd witnessed some scintillating bull rides with Larry Everingham starting the event with a solid 85 point score on Gold Buckle’s Comanche Moon; this was topped two rides later with the highest marked ride of the night.

Ayr’s Budd Williamson covered Gold Buckle’s Sanchez for 90.5 points the bull was electric and so was Budd’s performance. In form Katherine NT bull rider Cody Tapp delivered an 85.5point score in the second section on Trevor Dunne’s Spring Hill to take second place in the round.

The short go was always going to be a tough ask for the bull riders with a number of the leading contenders for bucking bull of the year drawn. Diamonds J Rodeo Co’s One-way or Another continued on his undefeated record. Brett Cross put in a good effort on Trevor & Tony Dunne’s Big Show but was unable to last the eight. Glenn Brodie’s Ban Dee Doe also performed well with Larry Everingham also coming up short.

2005 Collinsville Champion and local Robert Searle lead the event for a short while having ridden both his bulls. Until Cody Tapp rode Glenn Brodie/Diamond J’s Hocus Pocus and grabbed the overall lead. Cody was elated with his win and receiving the trophy buckle on offer.

Collinsville Bull Ride Committee was thrilled with the performance and has secured their Tour Stop for the 2007 PBR Australia Schedule. The tour now moves south to Roma with welcomed rain in the area sure to lift the town spirit, along with major league bull riding action set down for Saturday night all is in readiness for a great event.
