Innisfail North Queensland hosted Stop 7 on the Professional Bull Riders Touring Pro Series. A vocal crowd of approximately 2400 people who braved the wet conditions were treated to a night of bull riding where the bulls dominated with only 12 of the 48 bulls bucked were successfully rode.
25 bull riders from as far south as Orange NSW made the trip north to compete on two head of stock for over $5000 prize money and a Trophy Buckle. Rockhampton bull rider Harry Prow was the overall event winner, putting together two solid bull rides. After scoring 79 points on Rick Seed’s Bart he then came back in the final round to tally the highest mark ride of the night on Gold Buckle’s consistent performer Red Alert for 88.5 points. This was Prow’s first win on the PBR Australia Tour; he was delighted to receive the Champions Trophy Buckle and a cheque for almost $1500.00.
Two and a half points was all that separated Steven Clark of Duns Creek NSW from winning the event. Clark also rode both of his bulls, with an 80.5point score in the first round on Frank Biddle’s No Dice then backed it up with a great ride on Lionel Simpson’s Yankee for 85 points.
With the race to the PBR World Finals well and truly on Heath Shrimp the currently leader increased his margin a little further with one qualified ride which was good enough for a minor pay cheque in the average.
Tim Wilson from Orange NSW has a comfortable lead in the points standing for the Australian Championship.
Next stop on the tour is Hughenden Qld on the 9th September with over $10,000 prize money and Trophy Buckle for the event Champion. With so much prize money on offer this event offers the current leaders the opportunity to further extend theirs leads and the Challengers the opportunity to catch the leaders, so there is a lot at stake at this event and the rest of the tour events leading up to the World Finals Qualifier 15th October cut off and the Tour Finals in Rockhampton 30th and 31st December.
