Rockhampton’s Kevin Connolly claimed his first PBR win for the season at the Caloundra Event held on the Ettamogah Pub grounds last weekend. Connolly has been slowly returning to the form that won him the 2005 Australian Championship, and with so many events and money still on offer, don’t count him out of the 2006 Australian title race.

A near capacity crowd packed the Ettamogah Pub grounds to watch 37 of the countries best bull riders strut their stuff. The bucking bulls for the event were supplied by Frank Biddle from Warwick, Paul Barron from Cooyar and Scott Maynes from Gunnedah NSW.

Dan Kelly from Rosewood Qld won the first round with a tough ride on Paul Barron’s new bull #406, Kelly scored 85.5points. Stuart Frame had held the lead for the majority of the first round until Kelly registered his mark. Frame finished second in the round with an 84 point score on Scott Maynes Tipan. Brett Cross picked up third and Mark Douglas fourth.

The short go was loaded with bull power and top bull riders. Match ups like Tim Wilson on Biddle’s High Five, Steven Clark on Maynes Night Moves and Stuart Frame on Paul Barron’s Titanic were three of the ten fans got to see.

Kevin Connolly set the standard with an 81.5 points score on Scott Maynes’ Tipan; inform Katherine bull rider Cody Tapp covered Frank Biddle’s Jigsaw for 80 points and second place with Dave Atkinson taking third money on Paul Barron’s Twelve Gauge.

The PBR Australia Tour moves to the far north this weekend for the Bundaberg Rum Bull Ride at Atherton North Queensland. It is great to see so many of our members making the trip north to support this event.
