PUEBLO, Colo. (February 9, 2009) - Today, PBR veteran Greg Potter (Queensland, Australia) officially announced his retirement from the sport of bull riding. The 37-year-old has been a constant face on the Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS), having competed for twelve years and qualifying for the PBR World Finals in Las Vegas for seven years. This announcement comes after Potter suffered yet another neck injury at the 2009 Sacramento Classic in Sacramento, Calif.
“Last Friday, I met with (Dr.) Tandy (Freeman) and had a talk about my neck injury and went home and talked about it with my wife and we decided this will be the end of the road for me,” Potter stated. “We decided I’m going to hang my spurs up and call it quits.”
Over his twelve year career, Potter has earned almost $800,000 in career earnings after competing in 181 events. He retires with a 40% riding percentage and five event wins, including three at one of the top events on the BFTS tour in Anaheim.
