China loves the PBR

Slice of Americana captures Eastern imaginations

PUEBLO, Colo. (January 20, 2009) - Seventeen million Chinese citizens experienced the best of American sports in December, when the 2008 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals were broadcast in China on CCTV 5 – the main sports broadcaster in the People’s Republic of China.

Over two separate timeslots, the World Finals captured audiences of over 7 million for the first broadcast and over 10 million for the second.

By way of comparison, 17 million is more than 34 times the population of the State of Wyoming.

“We are grateful to CCTV 5, and to the great people of China for welcoming us into their homes,” said PBR CEO Randy Bernard. “The PBR is truly an international sport, and we know that cultural sharing like this can only lead to greater understanding between our peoples.”

The PBR is broadcast in over 84 countries around the world, to over 500 million households globally.

Its events air weekly on VERSUS Saturday and Sunday nights (please check your local listings for details in your area), and on NBC and FOX throughout the year. For more information on the Professional Bull Riders, Inc. or their international airdates, please visit www.pbrnow.com or call 719 242 2800.
