Master woodworker, Jim Scherer, aka the Sawdust Angel from Montrose, Colorado, donated his sweet 1951 Plymouth Cranbook car to the NDOC nonprofit organization in support of the National Day of the Cowboy's fundraising efforts. Jim has a cowboy heart and is a passionate collector of western memorabilia and he believes in the goal and the work of the National Day of the Cowboy organization.

We listed the Cranbrook on ebay Motors Saturday September 18, 2010 at 4PM as an auction style listing with an opening bid of $1,500. 100% of the proceeds benefit the NDOC. We also offered a "Buy it now" price of $3,000, based on the evaluation of a lifelong vintage car restorer, and vintage car show organizer and promoter, who felt it should sell for $3,000 - $3,500.

Here are the Cranbrook's particulars as described in our Ebay auction style listing #330474374831 -

This vintage four-door, 1951 Plymouth Cranbrook boasts a straight six-cylinder flathead engine with a 3-speed transmission shift on the column. The car starts easily and her dependable engine purrs right along. All of the glass is good. Once the tube radio warms up, it sounds clear enough to receive a transmission from Mars. It has the original upholstery, steering wheel, etc. All of the lights, the signals, and the horn work perfectly. The donor vows he'd be willing to drive it anywhere, any distance. The car has about 90,000 miles on it but we don't know if those are original miles or miles on a replaced engine. It could use some minor bodywork and trim fixes, but you can drive down the highway at 55 mph and let go of the steering wheel and it will still travel straight as an arrow. There are 7 photos of the Cranbrook in the Ebay listing. The buyer will need to arrange to take possession of the car from Montrose, Colorado, where it is stored. The Ebay item number is #330474374831. The auction will last 10 days. There is no reserve on this auction. I realize many of you may not be interested in vintage cars, but please forward this announcement to anyone you think might like to own this car or knows someone who might want to own it! Also, feel free to post it anywhere, blog about it, etc. We need to get the word spread to as many potential buyers as we can. Thanks so much for your interest and support and any help you can provide with this fundraiser.
