Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo awards more than $1 million to Texas FFA Members
[Jul. 9, 2009] The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo awarded 70 Texas FFA members with four-year, $15,000 college scholarships totaling $1,050,000 during the Texas FFA State Convention in Dallas. FFA scholarships are just one facet of the Show’s educational program. In 2009, the Show committed more than $15.9 million to scholarships, research, endowments, calf scramble participants and junior show exhibitors. Also included is support of the Rodeo Institute for Teacher Excellence™, School Art participants, and other educational and youth programs.
 
GIT ALONG, LITTLE DOGGIES
[May 14, 2009] Sixty-six head of longhorns will be driven down Route 66, in memory of Clem McSpadden, Oklahoma Legend, Pro Rodeo Hall of Famer, and nephew of Will Rogers.


The steers will be driven twelve miles, from Bushyhead, OK. the home of McSpadden's famous pasture roping to the Will Rogers Stampede arena in Claremore. That section of highway was named for McSpadden several years ago. A chuck wagon feed for drovers and sponsors at the arena will follow at 2 pm. The public can purchase chuck wagon feed tickets at the feed or contact the rodeo association. By Lacey Dale, Express Ranches, Inc.

[Mar. 1, 2009] Rodeo Attitude Merchant Member, Texas True located at Tyler, Texas was one of the businesses featured on Extreme Make Over - Home Edition Sunday, March 1st. The show helped a family in Austin, Texas and Texas True provided furniture and accessories for the Rodeo Room in the segment. Texas True sells only products makde in Texas and is especially noted for its beautiful line of furnishings and accessories with a true Western flair.
 
Rodeo saddles up for a rougher ride
[Mar. 1, 2009] In past years,one vendor’s exhibit at the Houston rodeo featured a 35-foot combo camper-horse trailer decked out with a hardwood floor, Corian countertops and a leather sofa. The targeted group was upscale ranchers and others willing to pony up as much as $90,000.

The vendor, Town & Country Trailer Sales,will be leaving its expensive camper-trailers back at its New Caney dealership for this year’s Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. On display instead will be a basic, two-horse aluminum trailer. Price tag? $11,900.
 
Rodeo Kicks Off In Downtown
[Feb. 25, 2009] HOUSTON - The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo brought a little of the old west to downtown Houston during its kick-off party, KPRC Local 2 reported Tuesday.

 

The annual event was held on the steps of Houston City Hall.
 
Production company heads to Stephenville
[Feb. 10, 2009] Whirlwind Productions, LLC is heading to the 4C’s Bucking Bull Ranch located in Stephenville Wednesday to shoot footage for their upcoming magazine-style format show. The show focuses on bringing the ranching, farming and rodeo lifestyle to homes across the country with a “how-to” approach. Currently researched and developed under the working title of “When I Grow Up...!” The production company is in talks with several networks and looks forward to national distribution soon. As their mission statement says “Whirlwind Productions was formed on the basis of bringing quality family programming to a wider audience. We hope to enrich the viewer of all the many aspects of the world of country living, rodeo competitions, fashion, interviews with notables and much more all with a modern and easily accessible approach.” By E-T Staff Report

DONNELL RODEO PROMOTIONS SIGNS REPRESENTATION
[Jan. 3, 2009] Donnell Rodeo Promotions (DRP) and the Women’s Ranch Rodeo Association (WRRA) have announced an agreement for DRP to serve as a marketing and sponsorship representative for the WRRA...WRRA features women-only teams competing in a series of ranch rodeos throughout the year, culminating in a national finals each October. The 10 days of Cowboy Christmas
[Nov. 18, 2008] Sin City becomes "Cowboy Central" during the first two weeks of December as the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo makes its annual 10-day run in Las Vegas.....It's pretty much a given where those fans will be during each rodeo performance, but there is plenty to do in the off hours as well.
