For the seventh straight year the Cass County Fair in Atlantic, IA will play host to a stop on the Extreme Bullriding Tour. If past history is any indications for this year’s event an estimated 6000 people will fill the stands for a night of breath-taking bull riding action mixed with a dose of freestyle bullfighting and a B & W Bounty Bull to boot. The riders of the Bullriders of America (BOA) and the National Federation of Professional Bullriders (NFPB) will be vying for $2000 in added money plus points that will count for the 2008 Tour Championship and the M & M Custom Camper that goes to the winner. The Extreme Bullriding Tour is known throughout the Midwest for its awards program which includes along with the camper a Frontier Trophy Buckle; a beautiful custom made jacket from RodeoJackets.com; a custom made pair of chaps by Outlaw Outfitters; and a gear bag from U. S. Rodeo Supply. The current leader in the tour standings is John Susie with several outstanding riders in hot pursuit of the title. By the way, the Cass County Fair and all its entertainment are FREE!
In an event where the ultimate match up is between man and beast the riders will be competing against the bulls of the “Attack Pack” of the Double S Bull Company. This event has been selected by B & W Turnover Ball Hitches as a B & W Bounty Bull Challenge. For these events a bounty bull is selected and if the rider is able to make the buzzer he receives a bonus from B & W. For this event stock contractor, Shad Smith, has selected 328 Sea Bass as the B & W Bounty Bull which will be one of the bulls in the short go. Sea Bass has proven himself to be a mighty challenge for bull riders. In fact as the saying goes you can count on one hand how many times he has been rode and you won’t need all your fingers! This should be one of the top match-ups of the night.
Fans can enjoy being entertained by the antics and skills of funnyman, Allan Dessel, while he uses announcer, Brandon McLagan, as his straight man. Brandon has won numerous awards for his announcing abilities and is ability to keep audiences informed on riders, bulls and their scores.
The night’s entertainment will be punctuated by a freestyle bullfight sanctioned by the Midwest Bullfighters Association. When these bullfighters start playing a game of “cat and mouse” with the bulls it is time to hold your breath as the menacing bull goes after the “mouse” who must stay as close to the bull as he can for a 30-second-eternity.
Action starts at 8 PM at the Cass County Fairgrounds.
