The long time dream of Don and Sharon Endsley, Silver Saddle Productions, and years of planning and promoting collimated in announcement ceremonies on July 25, 2007 for the new permanent home of “The Great American Wild West Show”. The new coliseum will be a part of the new Mission Square development located on Gretna Road in Branson Missouri, and is scheduled to open in the spring of 2009.
Great American Wild West Show Rich in History
Don, who is a veteran PRCA announcer, was asked in the mid 1980’s to produce a 40 minute Wild West Show for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. The show was a huge success and by 1995 Don was receiving numerous requests to take the show on the road. The Endsley’s decided to accept the challenge and “The Great American Wild West Show” and Silver Saddle Productions were born.
From the beginning it has always been Don and Sharon’s goal to produce a show that would be exciting and entertaining in the spirit of the shows produced by the legendary Buffalo Bill Cody while keeping the rich heritage of the American West alive. With the creation of Silver Saddle Productions and by bringing together the undisputable top western performers of the 21st century the Endsley’s have toured the United States entertaining and enlightening audiences with the “Great American Wild West Show”. The 1-3/4 hour show includes along with the great entertainers a production company that uses state of the art special effects, music and sound equipment along with a lighting system that rivals any major theatrical production. Obviously, moving a production of this size and quality from venue to venue was not only expensive but required hours of labor and limited the number of people the Endsley’s could bring the show to. Thus began the dream of a permanent arena.
Mission Square
The new facility in Branson, named Mission Square, has been designed to preserve the heritage of the heroes of the American West while providing an enjoyable entertainment center. Besides the “Great American Wild West Show Coliseum” there will be many other tourist attractions. The first part of the complex scheduled to open in the fall of 2008 will be “Ghost Riders”, Silver Saddle Productions Las Vegas style nightclub, and the “Heritage of the West Museum”. “Ghost Riders” will bring to Branson luxurious dining with dancing to live music provided by a variety of guest stars. The “Heritage of the West Museum” will be dedicated to the preservation of the heritage of those who made this country great. In early July the Western Music Association announced they have partnered with Silver Saddle Productions to house the WMA Hall of Fame as a part of this museum. Other attractions scheduled to be a part of the new museum will be announced shortly along with more information regarding other restaurants, shops and attractions of the new complex.
