PRCA specialty act Bert Davis, a.k.a. "The Coppertown Clown," has advanced through the first round of competition on season five of the NBC reality show America's Got Talent with his wife, Frannie, and their "Muttley Crew" 10-dog act. Davis, a PRCA Gold Card member from Copperopolis, Calif., and his dog act auditioned in Dallas and received three "Yes" votes from celebrity judges Sharon Osbourne, Howie Mandel and Piers Morgan on an episode that aired June 2.
That performance - which also impressed show host Nick Cannon and the studio audience - moved the two-time PRCA Comedy Act of the Year nominee and the Crew on to the next round in Las Vegas, and competition from that round will be aired on either July 6 or 7 (check local listings). Davis and his dogs are looking to be one of 48 acts chosen to advance from Las Vegas to the quarterfinals in Hollywood, and that round will be contested live on NBC.
Davis and the crew are the only rodeo act to appear on this season of the show and were among 70,000 acts that originally auditioned across the country. They were one of 400 acts chosen to perform for the show's judges and advanced through the first round. Fans can view the Crew's early round performance on the official Facebook page of America's Got Talent, as well as on YouTube. The show's finale will occur in mid-September, when the winner will receive a $1 million prize.
