Ariat Signs Top Reiner Carol Metcalf

Metcalf is Newest Addition to Ariat Pro Team

Union City, Calif. September 4, 2009 – Ariat International, the leading manufacturer of innovative performance equestrian footwear, apparel and belts, is delighted to announce its sponsorship of Carol Metcalf, world-renowned reiner and Western horsewoman.

Horses are a family affair for the Pilot Point, Tex., native whose husband and son will also be sponsored by Ariat. She and her husband Steve operate Metcalf Quarter Horses, and her son Carter has followed in his parents’ winning footsteps, taking the NRCHA Youth World Championships in Youth Bridle, the Novice Non-Pro title at the NRCHA World Championships and most recently winning his second reserve world title at the AQHA Youth World Championships.

Metcalf has an impressive resume herself, including a 2008 reserve championship on “Ruf Whiz,” plus 2004 NRHA Intermediate Open Futurity and Limited Open divisions on “Whattaroyalprincess” She was named 2000 AQHA Horsewoman of the Year and also has numerous breed association world championships and reserves in several divisions and disciplines, including Western Riding, Reining and Western Pleasure. In her spare time, Metcalf has also contributed training advice and articles to several industry publications, including Horse & Rider and Performance Horse.
