Greetings!

I am Amanda Eason, Miss Rodeo Iowa 2007, and a senior at Iowa State University awaiting acceptance into the College of Veterinary Medicine for next fall. I am the daughter of Steve and Alisa Eason of Clarinda, Iowa, and the proud oldest sibling of two beautiful and talented sisters, Sara and Kelli. In September I traveled to Ft. Madison Iowa and competed in the four day Miss Rodeo Iowa pageant during the Tri-State Rodeo and came home with honors in Horsemanship, Speech, and Photogenics. I am excited to be Miss Rodeo Iowa because I love the State of Iowa and plan to harness my energy and enthusiasm to be the most knowledgeable, personable, and well-rounded representative for the state and role model for young adults.

I just returned home from my exciting 10-day trip to Las Vegas to watch the Miss Rodeo America pageant and first few rounds of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. It was a great experience and I am ready to return! I do not take over as Miss Rodeo Iowa until January 1, 2007, therefore, I went as the “Lady-in-Waiting” to get a sneak peek of what to expect when I compete next year.

I was in awe at how beautiful, polished, and poised all 28 contestants looked as they checked in for the eight day pageant. We were allowed to watch the girls give their speeches, answer knowledge questions about the PRCA during the PRCA Luncheon, ride two different random horses during the horsemanship competition, answer current event questions about controversial issues at the Miss Rodeo America President’s Luncheon, model elaborate and beautiful leather dresses during the fashion show, as well as a see all of the eye-catching, rhinestoned outfits when the contestants made other public appearances during the pageant. I was very glad I got the opportunity to attend the pageant because I was not only able to take everything in, but I also met many of the other “Ladies in Waiting” from other states. I am looking forward to spending the next year with them and traveling together across the country to many rodeos.

However, I am very excited about my upcoming year and all of the experiences I will have, things I will get to do, and wonderful people I will be able to meet. So far, I am scheduled to make appearances at the National Western Stock Show Rodeo in Denver, Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo in Rapid City, SD, and the Dodge National Circuit Finals in Pocatello, ID. I hope to attend the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, RodeoHuston, Silver Spur Rodeo in Kissime, FL, and the Calgary Stampede. In the spring and into the summer, I will spend most of my time within the Hawkeye State attending professional rodeos (Cherokee, Edgewood, Decorah, Sidney, Ft. Madison, and Waterloo), amateur rodeos, Extreme Bullriding Tour events, civic functions, and other gatherings to make the public more aware of the sport of rodeo. My out-of-state summer travels will take me to NEBRASKAland Days, Cheyenne Frontier Days, possibly the Cody Stampede in Cody, WY, as well as the Great Lakes Circuit Finals in the fall in Louisville, KY.

With that, I hope to meet you sometime within the next year! If you are interested in learning more about the Miss Rodeo Iowa organization or see where I have been, visit www.rodeoroyalty.com. Have a great rodeo season!

Best Regards,

Amanda Eason
