9/5/07 - Spud Jones, Navajo Nation Bull Riding Champ, walked away with the $10,000 first place check at the Navajo Nation Championship Bull Riding. Spud Jones, 18, rode Martin Baca's 121 Speedy Gonzales to a score of 86 and 4th place in the long round. In the short round, Spud marked a 91 on Alan Murphy's 049 Smokin Joe. Spud's total on two of 177 beat out top bull riders like Cole Echols, Reece Cates, Clayton Williams, and Wesley Silcox.
Sonny Murphy, returning from a neck injury suffered at the NFR, won the long round with a 89.5 on Alan Murphy's 13 Mr Incredible. Jay Dunford won the short round on Harlan Robertson's 324 Bad Action with a 92.
