Women Shelter Benefit Bull Riding was held May 31st in Trenton, MO at the
North Missouri Saddle Club Arena and success doesn't even start to cover the results of
the night. Every bleacher seat was full with many people left to
standing room only. The list of riders was unbelievable which read
almost like a whose who of both the National Federation of Professional
Bullriders (NFPB) and the Bullriders Of America (BOA).
Cheryl Leffler, Director of Shelter and
Client Services for Green Hills Women's Shelter, her staff and the members
of the North Missouri Saddle Club worked not only with the Extreme
Bullriding Tour to put on an outstanding bull ride, they also added
several special touches to make the night memorable. First was the
food! Anyone who did not make a trip to the "cook shed"
missed out on one of the best pork sandwiches I have tasted in a very long
time. Not only was the food exceptional but the prices were
great. A big plus in these times of high gas prices which hurt both
fans and cowboys alike!
Another attraction was a raffle that was
held during the event. With several items up for grabs the tickets
sold like hot cakes. It was nice just to know that whether we won or
lost the women and children who seek shelter and aid from the Green Hills
facility would ultimately be the big winners.
A very special thanks to Howard Sears of
Howard Sears Photography for being on hand as the official photographer
and for being such a great sport as he played foil to funnyman and his
long-time friend, "Tadpole" Dennis. It added a perfect
spice to the night.
Another special thanks to U. S. Rodeo
Supply for bringing their large vendor trailer to the event. It is
always nice to have a good vendor on hand for both fans and cowboys.
Just prior to intermission Todd and Tammy
Crase along with Ryan Skillet of White Buffalo Productions honored Larry,
Cindy and LoriDee Meyers of RodeoAttitude.com for 10 years as a sponsor
for the Extreme Bullriding Tour. Todd was then surprised when Cindy
took the microphone to announce that he had been selected for induction
into the Iowa High School Rodeo Association Hall of Fame at their finals
in Fort Madison, Iowa this June. Todd received the applause of the
fans as well as the cowboys for an honor he so richly deserves.
Trackside Bar hosted the beer tent during
the event and then ended the night with a special after event party at
Trackside. The word standing room only became even more appropriate
at the after party but no one seemed to care as both fans and cowboys
enjoyed lots of dancing. When the doors closed and everyone headed
home it was obvious that everyone had had a wonderful time at the Second
Annual Green Hills Women's Benefit.
