Cass County Fair Packs in the Bull Riding Fans

Lancaster Event Center
| A crowd of approximately 4500
fans watched the action unfold Thursday, July 31st at the Extreme
Bullriding Tour stop at the Cass County Fair in Atlantic, Iowa. Fans
started filling the seats early in order to get a good seat and by show
time it was standing room only. They knew what to expect and the
riders, bulls and personnel did not disappoint them. From the moment
the first gate opened until the last gate closed the bulls were at peak
performance. Six men qualified to come back for the short go but the
top bulls of the Double S Bull Company's "Attack Pack" had no
intentions of letting anyone ride them. In the end two men tied for
first with 89 points for $827.37 each, Curt Check and Dusty
Green. Bull of the event was 11 Little Joe who made quick work
of Dusty Green in the short go round. The event was co-sanctioned by
the Bullriders of America (BOA) and the National Federation of
Professional Bullriders (NFPB).
In this sport of man against beast, the
bulls of the junior bull riding competition were no kinder to the
riders. Nine young men rode but there were no qualified rides.
That there were no qualified rides in no way reflects on the ability or
try of these young men, only that the bulls won this particular day.
Allan Dessel was voted by the Bullriders of
America as their Funnyman of the Year for 2008 and anyone watching him
perform in the arena, when they stopped laughing, would have seconded the
vote! Allan will be performing August 1-2 at the Bullriders of
America Finals in Fort Madison, Iowa, as a result of winning this honor.
In fact when the event was over a small
caravan headed for Fort Madison as many of the riders and personnel along
with most of the bulls had qualified or been voted to be a part of this
years finals, a tribute to the quality of the Extreme Bullriding
Tour. No wonder the stands filled so fast and everyone will be
talking about this year's event for a long time to come. |
