HAPPENINGS: TODAY, TOMORROW & YESTERYEAR
[May 2, 2011] When I was a little girl I was told by my Grandma that the days just flew by. As a child I thought the days were slowly creeping by, never fast enough for me. Why? I don’t know now. But I don’t think I was any different than most youngsters, then or now. I guess I’ve reached ‘that age’ because I can’t squeeze enough in to each day, and
whoosh, it’s gone!

A TRIBUTE TO VEGAS
[Mar. 25, 2011] Vegas was a horse that did his job for years without any fanfare. He was solid, dependable, and year after year his role in rodeo was to assist cowboys in roping events. Vegas died recently and is mourned by his owner and those who knew him. Vegas was not well-known, like Secretariat, Bold Ruler or Hells Angel, horses who, in their day, were known by millions of fans. He had a handful of cowboys that knew him and knew his capabilities. He was twenty-three years old and you might think, well he lived a good long life, for a horse. But according to his owner he still had the stamina of a young horse and showed no signs of aging. He was still able to do his job and his zest for life, as a partner in roping events, was still there. By Gail Woerner
