RODEO NOTES - Late rodeo-singing star LeDoux to be honored
[Oct. 25, 2007] The late Chris LeDoux was a big hit in Cowtown for two distinct reasons. In the late 1970s, he competed in the Fort Worth Stock Show Rodeo as a world champion bareback rider. In the early 1990s, he was a country-western music star who performed at Billy Bob's Texas.

New rodeo at American Royal

So when the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association changed its dates for the 2007 season, those close to the American Royal prepared for a different version of the rodeo that has coincided with the annual Kansas City celebration for more than 30 years. This year, instead of the PRCA rodeo, the Royal will play host to the Prairie Circuit Finals Rodeo,

[Oct. 16, 2007] An open (to girls & women) 2D goat tying jackpot is being held on October 27 & 28 during the WPRA World Finals in Alvarado, Texas to help the WPRA guage the level of interest by goat tyers in competing past High School and College in the WPRA.

Rodeo Insider - PBR's big payday is worth every buck
[Oct. 16, 2007] The Professional Bull Riders just keeps devising creative ways to handsomely pay its competitors.

There's the Cabala's World's Foremost Ride, which awards a cash prizes to the cowboy with the highest-marked ride of the regular season. Two-time world champion Chris Shivers earned $25,000 for his 93.25 point ride in July in Tulsa.

White Knows When to Hold 'Em
[Sep. 17, 2007] Mike White picked up $10,000 for playing it safe in Reno. The De Kalb, Texas, bull rider is no stranger to taking risks, but at a Resistol Relief Fund Blackjack tournament at the Silver Legacy Casino in Reno, Nev., on Sept. 8, White played it safe in the final round, and was paid off in spades.
