For longtime rodeo clown, the fun never stops
[Jan. 29, 2010] FORT WORTH — As the voice of Jerry Lee Lewis floated above the cattle barns, the rodeo clown sat at a table in his travel trailer parked near the Stock Show midway.

Rodeo Attitude Members Win Awards at IFR Contract Act Showcase
[Jan. 17, 2010] Rodeo Attitude has been notified that Lew Hendricks won the Announcer Competition of the IFR 40 Contract Act Showcase. Lew is a member of the Rodeo Attitude Program and has carried our mission to promote the sport of rodeo and the Western lifestyle to many events this year. We have also been told that the "Coppertown Clown", Bert Davis, another outstanding long time member of the Rodeo Attitude Program won the Dress Act Competition. Rodeo rolls back to town, ‘Wild animals on a wild ride’ this weekend
[Sep. 2, 2009] This ain’t Matt Merritt’s first rodeo.

“I work kind of as a cheerleader to keep the crowd’s spirits up,” said Merritt, a rodeo clown based in Olin, N.C.
 
2009 RODEO CLOWN REUNION TO BE HELD AT DEADWOOD
[Jul. 16, 2009] The 2009 Rodeo Clown Reunion will be held in Deadwood, South Dakota, during the 87th annual Days of ‘76, July 23rd through the 25th. This event has again been chosen as the PRCA Midsize Rodeo of 2008. This honor has been bestowed on this rodeo numerous times for their consistency in having a top flight rodeo. There will be four performances (two on the 25th) and the honorees of the Reunion will be present to sign autographs and talk with fans at each performance. They will also participate in two parades down the main street of Deadwood on Friday at 1:30 PM and Saturday morning at 10 AM. By Gail Woerner

[Jun. 22, 2009] DEADWOOD (6/22/2009) – The laugh-getters and bullfighters of yesteryear are gathering for their annual reunion during the 2009 Days of ’76 events in Deadwood, July 21-25. Rodeo clowns from 14 states will gather in Deadwood to be honored for their years in the arena entertaining rodeo audiences and saving bull riders from serious injury.

Cattlemen’s PCA rodeo features top rodeo clown
[May 21, 2009] Troy, AL - A rodeo without a clown is like a day without sunshine.

The rodeo clown is a main attraction for kids of all ages. For that reason, the Pike County Cattlemen’s Association puts on its collective thinking cap each year to make sure that their Professional Cowboy Association Championship Rodeo has one of the best professional rodeo clowns in the business.

[Apr. 27, 2009] It looks so peaceful sitting in it's pen, minding it's own business.- Then a cowboy decides to hop on it's back. After the cowboy is thrown off the bull, he has to scramble away from the infuriated beast. - That is when the bullfighter comes in to save the day.
 
Wes Curtis Rodeo Clown and Arties Dies at 88
[Apr. 26, 2009] Wes Curtis, age 88, PRCA rodeo clown from 1948 until 1968, died April 19th, in Sutherlin, Oregon. He was born to Ernest and Honor Leone Curtis in Denver, Colorado, March 16, 1921. Wes joined the Cowboy’s Turtle Association and was a lifetime member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA). He started his rodeo career riding in all three roughstock events. Wes served in the United States Navy from November, 1942 and was honorably discharged in September, 1946. In 1948 Wes became a rodeo clown and bullfighter. He had many acts and when he hung up his matador’s cape which he used when bullfighting it was 1968 By Gail Woerner
