COMMENTARY: Cowboy crunch time[Sep. 12, 2007] ELLENSBURG — I know there are three more weeks of rodeo before the season ends. Within those three weeks Pendleton, Albuquerque, Amarillo dot the schedule, all three top 50 rodeos with Pendleton being one of the biggest of the summer. Certainly the biggest in the Northwest.
But there’s got to be some guys getting a bit anxious if they’re on the outside looking in.
Perusing through the world standings I notice that Rich Skelton (18th, heeling), Billy Etbauer (17th, saddle bronc), Doug Pharr and Brad Goodrich (18th and 19th, tie-down) and Molly Powell and Sherry Cervi (18th and 20th, barrels) all haven’t shored up their December NFR schedule. Each could win enough over the next couple of weekends to more than solidify a trip to the NFR.
