SAN ANTONIO, Texas ---Sydni Blanchard has made more victory laps around the AT&T Center arena than any other contestant at the 2010 edition of the San Antonio Stock Show Rodeo.
The former Rookie of the Year barrel racer has won three out of four rounds of competition and is doing it aboard her new horse Pure Victory Dash. They have the fastest time of the rodeo so far at 13.75 seconds and are second in money earnings behind the reigning world champion barrel racer Brittany Pozzi from Victoria, Texas.
Pozzi competed in the first bracket here, was second in the first two rounds, tied for the win in the third and won the fourth round out right. Her total money so far stands at $7,000. Blanchard was one spot out of the money in the first round, but with winning the second through fourth, she has total earnings of $6,223.
Both will be back here for the semi-finals and if they keep doing what they have been, there could be a barrel racing shoot-out at the final performance between these two talented horsewomen.
Eric Swenson, from Denison, Texas, was the high money winner in bareback riding, thanks to his win in the fourth round. Swenson, a former Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualifier won $2074 for his 81-point effort on Cervi Championship Rodeo’s Little Fletch. His total cash so far is $4,667.
Heith DeMoss knows what it’s like to make a victory lap in the AT&T Center and his enthusiasm is unlimited. He won the saddle bronc riding title here last year earning a total of $16,344. He won the fourth round with an 82-point ride on Flying Five Rodeo’s Cat Ballou giving him enough cash to advance to the semi-finals.

Taos Muncy who won the 2007 championship here enroute to the world title is tied for second place with his traveling partner Isaac Diaz from Stephenville, Texas.
