COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Rodeo Austin (Texas), the sixth stop on the 2008 Wrangler ProRodeo Tour, reached the halfway mark over the weekend and steams into the final week of competition in the Travis County Expo Center. Performances continue daily at 7 p.m. (CT), culminating with the final round on March 15.

First-and second-round action continues from Texas’ capital city. Through March 8, each event’s leaders were: bareback rider Dusty LaValley of Crooked Creek, Alberta, 170 points on two head; steer wrestler Stockton Graves of Newkirk, Okla., 7.6 seconds on two head; team ropers Coleman Proctor of Miami, Okla./Jake Long of Alva, Okla., 10.0 seconds on two head; saddle bronc rider Cody Wright of Milford, Utah, 168 points on two head; tie-down roper Jerrad Hofstetter of Portales, N.M., 17.7 seconds on two head; bull rider Cody Hancock of Taylor, Ariz., 165 points on two head; and barrel racer Jeanne Anderson of White City, Kan., 29.00 seconds on two runs.

In addition to Saturday’s final round, the Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo will end festivities earlier in the day with the 2008 Youth Auction, which will take place for the first time in the newly constructed Long Center for the Performing Arts. The Auction is the grand finale to the junior livestock show.
