Champions Crowned at Reno Rodeo[Jun. 28, 2009] When Lindsay Sears arrived at the Reno Rodeo Arena, it was on crutches, but that didn’t stop her from winning the barrel racing here aboard her stellar horse Martha.
Field Set For Finals at Reno Rodeo[Jun. 27, 2009] At the conclusion of Saturday night’s rodeo nearly $500,000 in prize money will have been distributed and nine pairs of championship spurs will be added to rodeo contestant’s trophy cases.
Etbauer Holds on for Win in Reno[Jun. 26, 2009] Etbauer from Edmond, Okla., scored 89 points on Big Bend Rodeo’s Devil Lady at the first of eight performances that feature preliminary competition. His score held on through another 45 rides to win the top spot in the first round. Etbauer earned $3,203 here.
Ravenna Cowboy Finds His Place In Rodeo[Jun. 25, 2009] Growing up in a small town in Nebraska when you’re a different color from everybody else isn’t an easy thing to do. But Aman Miller from Ravenna has found his niche.
Leads Change at Reno Rodeo[Jun. 25, 2009] There are new leaders in the over-all standings in bareback riding, steer wrestling and saddle bronc riding. A young bronc rider from North Dakota is looking for his first pair of Reno Rodeo championship spurs. Dusty Hausauer from Dickinson has a total of 169 points on two head. This is three points ahead of Justin Arnold, from Santa Margarita, Calif. Chad Ferley, who won the Reno Rodeo in 2006 en route to the saddle bronc world title has moved into fifth place with 162 points.
Williams is World’s Greatest Roper[Jun. 25, 2009] Nevada native and veteran all-around hand Preston Williams came from behind to win the 2009 World’s Greatest Roper event, held June 21 in conjunction with the Reno Rodeo.
The 34-year-old former college national all-around champion headed, heeled and tied 15 head of stock in just under 79 seconds to edge second-place Randon Adams for the $25,000 paycheck from Lazy E Productions. Also: Lazy E Ranch
Buddy System Works Well for Reno Rodeo Contestants[Jun. 24, 2009] One thing that sets rodeo apart from other sports is the camaraderie among contestants. They travel together, help each other and in spite of competing against each other, are often very good friends.
Reigning World Champion Dominates Reno Rodeo[Jun. 23, 2009] He put himself much closer to that with an outstanding ride at the Reno Rodeo on Monday night. McDaniel had a solid score of 79 in his first appearance on Sunday night. He came back and rode his horse for 84 points Monday to take the lead in the second round and over-all standings. His ride came aboard Sundowner of the Flying U Rodeo Company.
Barrel racers storm leaderboard at Reno[Jun. 22, 2009] Sue Smith of Blackfoot, Idaho, turned in the second-fastest time of the 90th Annual Reno Rodeo – a 17.01 – to move to second in the second round and second overall average behind defending world champion Lindsay Sears.
