Peterson Moves to Lead in Women’s Barrel Race
[Jul. 20, 2009] CHEYENNE, Wyo. – In the 1990’s Kristie Peterson and her horse Bozo dominated the barrel race at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo. They won the coveted buckle here in 1993, then three more times, 1996-98. This year it is Kristie’s daughter Jordon that has moved to the top of the leader board. Peterson and her horse Jester stopped the clock in 17.39 seconds during the second performance of the “Daddy of ‘em All”. This moved them to first place in the second round of competition and combined with their first round time gave them the over-all lead with a total of 35.34 seconds. Right rope links cowboys to past

And while bull riders tend to get most of the glory at rodeos, including this week's California Rodeo Salinas, it's the men lassoing wayward cattle who most resemble the traditional rodeo cowboy.
