Nashville, Tenn. - (September 9, 2009) - The 28th Annual George Strait Team Roping Classic (GSTRC) is scheduled to take place Friday and Saturday March 12th & 13th 2010 at the San Antonio Rose Palace in San Antonio, Texas. The event, which originated as a small family roping by George and his brother Buddy in 1982, has grown into the most prestigious open Team Roping competition in the country.

The GSTRC is not just for the big names however. As an open roping, ropers of all levels may compete alongside each other for a chance at the big winnings. In March, over 486 teams competed for a chance to win over $660,000 in cash and prizes. Chad Masters and Jade Corkill eventually walked away with Champions title to go along with plenty of cash. Total earnings for Masters was $125,493 and total for Corkill was $152,193.

"I want to thank George Strait and everyone who is a part of this event," said 2009 winner Masters. "I'm trying not to tear up."

"This deal here definitely makes your whole year!" admits 2009 winner Corkill, whose ride had left earlier for the next event. "I had planned to hitch a ride but now I have a new truck and trailer!"

All ropers will participate on Friday, March 12th and the top 50 teams will come back for the final three rounds on Saturday, March, 13th. Entry fee for the 28th annual George Strait Team Roping Classic will be $1000 per team. Each roper will have the opportunity to enter up to three times with different partners.

Details on registration, competition and ticket purchasing go to www.gstrc.com.
