As the dirt flew and the sun set, the first performance of the 99th California Rodeo Salinas on July 16th started the week off with a bang!
· Bareback rider RC Landingham had a wild ride and high score of the night with a 79.0.
· In the steer wrestling Ronnie Fields came in with the fastest time of 5.5 seconds.
· High score of the night in the saddle bronc riding was delivered by Josh Reynolds, turning in a 82.0.
· Tie down Roper Fred Whitfield had a smoking run of 9.8 to give him the fastest time of the night.
· Team ropers Derrick Begay and Cesar de la Cruz turned in a time of 6.4 to be fastest in the performance.
· Barrel Racer Brittany Pharr stopped the clock with a 16.35 for the fast time of the night.
· Dustin Larsen turned in the high score of the bull riding with a 79.0.
· Freestyle bullfights got the crowd roaring, but Dave Jantzi & Toby Inman tied for first with a score of 84. Andy Burelle was second with an 83.
Friday night will feature top rodeo cowboys, rope artist Tomas Garcilazo and more.
