SALINAS, CA July 17, 2009 – The second performance of the California Rodeo Salinas was an exciting show with professional cowboys and cowgirls taking the stage to entertain the crowd. Rounding out some of the top performances of the night was bareback rider Bobby Mote from Culver, Oregon, scoring an 84 on his ride, saddle bronc rider Chet Johnson from Gillete, Wyoming, made a ride for a score of 85, and bull rider Josh Verburg of Fresno, California scored an 89 making him high score of the night. On the timed event end of the arena tie-down roper Fred Whitfield of Hockley, Texas holds the lead in the go-round with a time of 9.8, team ropers Mike Fletcher from Stephenville, Texas and Cody Doescher of Mineral Wells, Texas turned in a time of 7.8, Steer Wrestler Ronnie Fields of Oklahoma City. OK had the fast time of the performance with a 5.5, and barrel racer Brittany Pharr of Victoria, Texas stopped the clock at 16.09 to be the fast time of the night.
Attendance of the second performance was great, up 9.6% from last year on Friday night at the Rodeo with ticket sales totalling 11,200.The California Rodeo Salinas will celebrate 100 Years of Tradition July 15-18, 2010.
