After three, heated go-rounds the top four contestants in BP Super Series I will advance to a Semifinal round on March 17 or 18.

Trent Creager edged out Landon McClaugherty for the win in Tie Down Roping. “Consistency is key,” Creager said. “Landon went long tonight and let me win it.” Creager’s $5,000 total winnings put him in the top spot, followed by McClaugherty with $4,750. Third place winner Cody Ohl, and fourth place winner Trevor Brazile, also will advance to a Semifinal round.

The Bareback Riding came down to half a point with Steven Dent claiming the top spot with an aggregate score of 244.5. “It’s always been a goal of mine to win a Super Series,” Dent said. “I didn’t win it last year when I won the Rodeo, so it feels good.” Bobby Mote was a close second with an aggregate score of 244. Bareback riders D.V. Fennell and Bo Casper will advance in third and fourth.

Solidarity was key in Team Roping, and no two men know that better than header Chad Masters and heeler Jade Corkill. Their total earnings of $12,000 and aggregate score of 19.9 seconds gave them a solid lead over second place team Trevor Brazile and Patrick Smith.

“We have not had a very good year so far, so it feels great to win,” said Corkill. Pairs Joel Bach and Kory Koontz, and Joe Beaver and Arky Rogers, will join them in a Semifinal round.

J.J. Elshere took first place in the Saddle Bronc Riding ahead of Trell Etbaeur, Taos Muncy and Cody Taton. “To come here and make the next round is a good thing,” Elshere said. “It gives me another chance to win a big check.”

Matt Reeves hit the dirt with a bang to win the Steer Wrestling and $5,000. “I always wait until the last night to win,” Reeves said. “It’s exciting to win at rodeos such as Houston.” Olin Hannum, Kyle Hughes and Spud Duvall will advance with Reeves.

Bull rider Clint Craig won Super Series I and $8,000. “There is a lot of money at this rodeo,” Craig said. “Hopefully I will win some more when I come back next week.” Fellow bull riders Douglas Duncan, Clayton Williams and J.W. Harris will compete alongside Craig.

Brittany Pozzi and her Palomino, “Duke,” set the arena on fire in Barrel Racing. “I’m excited,” Pozzi said. “This is the best I’ve ever done at Houston. The way the arena is set up really fits Duke’s style.” Her total winnings of $9,500 gave her a strong lead over fellow advancing competitors Lindsay Sears, Jill Moody and Sammi Bessert.

See these champions, plus the champions in the upcoming Super Series, in one of the BP Super Series Semifinals March 17 and March 18.

The top four from each event and Semifinal round will advance to the BP Super Series Championship March 20. The remaining six from each event and Seminfinal will compete in the Wild Card March 19, where the top two from each event will advance to the BP Super Series Championship. RODEOHOUSTON BP Super Series Champions walk away with a $50,000 payout. The RODEOHOUSTON Super Series continues through March 20, with an Xtreme Bulls competition March 21.
